Meet the Family

Seabrook Wines is a small family owned vineyard, tasting room and winery. Hamish and Jo Seabrook are the current custodians of the Seabrook family business and have an unwavering commitment to the brand, land and generations past.

Hamish Seabrook

Director/Winemaker

As a youngster growing up in the Barossa Valley, Hamish was always around wine and with a family history that dates back to 1878, it was inevitable that his future would too be in the wine industry.

Hamish has spent many vintages travelling between the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, California and New York before enrolling in Winemaking at Adelaide University and graduating with a Bachelor of Oenology in 2000. Upon graduating, Hamish wasted no time looking for work and went on to make wine for Bests, Great Western. Here he was taken under the wing of wine industry legend Viv Thomson, where he established his winemaking style.

Following in his forefathers’ footsteps, Hamish judges at various shows across Australia and was honored to be awarded Dux of the prestigious Len Evans Tutorial in 2004.

After a stellar start at Bests, Hamish then went on to work in senior winemaking roles at Brown Brothers, Milawa; Dorrien Estate, Barossa Valley; and Kirrihill, Clare Valley before finally taking the leap to concentrate solely on his own business.

Proprietor and winemaker, Hamish Seabrook, revived the historic Seabrook brand and released his first wine under the family label in 2005. He now manages every aspect of the Seabrook business, including the 20-acre vineyard on their property, winemaking and sales.

Hamish makes genuine small-batch wines he loves to drink. He is passionate about reflecting the place in which they come from, and he has a hands-on approach to the family’s 20-acre estate. Seabrook Wines is at the base of Barossa’s eastern foothills, where their vineyard and historic cellar door are perched.

Jo Seabrook

Director/Marketing & Projects

A true behind the scenes worker, you will rarely see Jo front and centre in the business. Apart from working full-time for the Barossa Council, Jo covers a bit of marketing and project work in her spare time and steps up to chief cellar hand during vintage time and glass washer on weekends.

Mostly Jo just enjoys the wonderful Barossa lifestyle and getting out and about in the vineyard all year round.

Chloe & Jack

Winery Kids

It’s very much a family affair with everyone chipping in, even the kids!

Kids duties include: berry taste tests, grape picking, foot stomping, ferment plunging, grape juice sampling and scoring, dish washing and bunny chasing through the vineyard!

Rosie

Winery Dog

Rosie is the matriarch at Seabrook Wines, she loves roaming the vineyards, splashing around in the dams as well as sunbaking, snoozing and keeping close watch on the cat. She always waiting to lap up lots of pats from visitors and will love you for ever if you throw her the ball a few times.

Scotchy/Catty

Wine Cat

Scotchy hates everyone equally, but seriously he is a good cat when he wants to be. When he's in the mood you will find him smooching around the Tasting Room deck looking for an unsuspecting visitor for a little snuggle. Otherwise you will find him roaming the vineyard away from Rosie. But don't worry, Rosie knows who's boss!
