2018 'The Broker' Barossa Valley Grenache

‘The Broker’ is named after 4th generation Iain Seabrook who followed in his father’s footsteps and began his career in wine running errands at the famous WJ Seabrook & Son Wine Merchants in Melbourne, where he eventually became Production Manager. Following the closure of WJ Seabrook & Son, Iain began his own wine brokerage firm in the Barossa that was the first of its kind in the Australian wine industry, enabling wineries to trade in bulk wine to achieve the best blends possible.

Soft and textural, this wine is jampacked with raspberry fruits, liquored cherries, and black pepper spice. Tannins are long and tactile with fine acidity providing direction and length. This wine is a keeper and will reward with cellaring five to seven years.

Sourced from a premium, single vineyard in the tiny hamlet of Greenock, on the western-ranges of the Barossa Valley, this vineyard provides us with both 50-year-old, bush-vine Grenache along with a small replanting on young bush-vine Grenache. Grown on deep red clay soils with the occasional pockets of ironstone and sandy loam, the complexity of the soils, and contrast between the vine age creates shows through to the glass.
