Extended Family

2019 "The Triple Threat" GSM

"The Triple Threat" is the third release in the Extended Family series and tells the tale of Hamish Seabrook’s great aunty, Mary who was smart, sassy, and blessed with good looks. Early in her career, she worked as a fashion model, before moving into radio at Melbourne's ABC station. Inevitably she was lured into the wine industry, working alongside her brother Douglas; proving to be a true 'triple threat'!

Our 2019 "The Triple Threat" Barossa Valley Grenache, Shiraz Mataro Blend is a delicate, aromatic and pretty wine that combines floral and Dark Berry fruit characters with texture and a soft but spicy finish.

2019 is a vintage that is proving to be exceptional for the Barossa Valley; high quality fruits but a low-yielding vintage across the board. An above average rainfall for the growing season saw soils topped up nicely, and additional rainfall in Spring, alongside warmer temperatures resulted in good canopy growth and bunch formation. Above average temperatures throughout early Summer did create concern, but thankfully mild temperatures set in during veraison, allowing for a slower ripening period.

BAROSSA VALLEY

The 2019 GSM is from a single vineyard grown sites with the Grenache growing on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley. Grown on black Cracking clays with ferrous ironstone randomly dispersed in the far corner of the block. These ancient soils hold the perfect amount of organic matter and water holding capacity to maintain an almost dry-grown site. The vines are bush vine grown and nicely aged vines, combined with our Barossa Shiraz and Mataro grown on our estate's eastern slopes.
